In-House Kick-Off Workshop
The transformation platform REVIERa was initiated in mid-2019 by an interdisciplinary group of RWTH researchers. Around 60 RWTH researchers participated in the in-house kick-off workshop in July 2019 in the foyer of the Reiff Museum. The aim was to form an interdisciplinary network of RWTH researchers to help tackle the challenges posed by the structural change proces in the Rhenish lignite mining area.
Interdisciplinary teams developed possible scenarios for the mining area and discussed future development opportunities for the region. Based thereon, the researchers outlined how science can contribute to the coal phase-out and the far-reaching regional transformation this entails. It became clear that in order to fruitfully contribute to the change process, RWTH must continue to develop a culture of dialogue and knolwedge transfer.
